Debut Class at the Focus on Book Arts Biennial Conference!

Using Masonite board and marbled fabric, learn to construct a beautiful and functional hatch top box with a bottom drawer, a two drawer box,or a round letter holder. Not only for housing books, hand made boxes have a variety of functions. This course will teach the basics of decorative box construction, and expand into more complex box functions; the hatch top and drawer construction. Students will create a highly functional and beautiful boxes.

By mastering the template for these box models, students will gain the necessary skills for other varieties of boxes, while also enhancing their bookbinding skills. Pietro will bring a sample collection of boxes for discussion of aesthetics and design to be used throughout the workshop.
