Estelle J. Kelsey Foundation Hands ON! Second Saturdays offers monthly free admission, hands-on art activities, storytelling, a docent-guided tour, live performances, and community collaborations.  “Art Investigators” provides children the opportunity to engage with Museum staff and take a closer look at current work on view. New exhibitions, community collaborations, guest performances and monthly themes rotate in this engaging series of monthly programs.

Craneway Crafts Fair

The 2019 Craneway Craft Fair will take place December 21 & 22, 10am - 5pm both days. The Fair takes place in the gorgeous Craneway Pavilion in Richmond, CA and benefits Berkeley’s KPFA 94.1 public radio – speaking truth to power daily! For 49 years The Craft Fair has helped sustain listener-funded KPFA radio.

The Craneway Craft Fair provides an opportunity for the Bay Area community to support, enjoy, and be nourished by local artisans in much the same way it interacts with KPFA.

The Fair showcases 200 juried and diverse exhibitors, including both master artisans and emerging newcomers. Their original art and crafts fill the pavilion along with fair trade and non-profit vendors. Food is catered by GDC Kitchen – a minority, woman, and veteran-owned local catering business.

Admission: $12 ages 18-64, $10 Seniors & Disabled, Youth Free

Enjoy shopping in the Artisan's Mall for distinctive and original handcrafted holiday gifts, then savor a delicious lunch. Doors open at 10:30 am. Lunch is served at noon. All donations and proceeds benefit the Volunteers in Art.

Artist's Fair at FOBA

The Artists’ Fair is replacing the Artist’s Shop from past conferences. The Artists’ Fair will be open to the public on Thursday and Friday evenings in the Cawein Gallery, and is an opportunity for book artists to personally sell their fine crafts.

For conference attendees and the public this is a unique opportunity to purchase hand-made books, cards, hand decorated papers, and other book related work from professional artists and students of the arts.

FOCUS ON BOOK ARTS is a five-day conference of book and paper arts workshops held biennially on the verdant campus of Pacific University in charming Forest Grove, Oregon, just west of Portland. Every odd-numbered year, we present workshops taught by renowned, professional instructors in the fields of bookbinding, printing, decorative papers, paper making, book art and more. The conference attracts over 200 book and paper artists from around the world. We offer five days of workshops, along with a Trade Show, Artists’ Fair, Faculty-Staff Exhibition, and several evening receptions. With the option of on-campus housing, FOBA is an excellent opportunity for community, networking, and learning new skills.

In a beautiful natural setting reminiscent of a traditional summer camp, the Idyllwild Arts Summer Program provides high caliber arts instruction and memorable arts immersion workshops to a diverse student population of all ages and abilities. Nearly 2,000 children, youth, adults and families participate in the diverse summer program featuring workshops in all the arts and specifically tailored to all proficiency levels and ages. The Summer program provides children, teens, adults and professional artists intensive practical instruction in all the visual arts and performing arts – sculpture, painting, photography, ceramics, jewelry, Native American arts, film & digital media, fashion design, dance, music, theatre and creative writing.

Art Camp for adults at the Oakland Feather River Camp has been an annual event since 1991. We are well known for our inspirational classes, taught by recognized arts professionals, offered in an amazingly beautiful mountain setting.

Feather River Art Camp provides a surge of creative energy to enlighten the rest of your year.

MUSEUM SCHOOL OPEN HOUSE AND HANDS ON!

he Hands ON! on Second Saturdays program offers monthly free admission, hands-on art activities, storytelling, a docent-guided tour, live performances, and community collaborations.  “Art Investigators” provides children and families with the opportunity to engage with Museum staff and take a closer look at selected artworks while engaging in a dialogue about the selected pieces.  Themes and programs change monthly and rotate through cultural explorations, exhibition connections and community partnerships.  Join us in December for our annual Open House in the E.L. Cord Museum School. Meet some of the Museum School instructors and enjoy hands-on art activities!
 

Pietro and Vanessa Accardi will be guiding 45 minute marbling adventures throughout the day! Registrants will leave with their own one of a kind hand marbled Christmas Cards, sign up soon!
